I bought an upper receiver kit to build a 50 Beowulf AR. I need a BCG assembly for it. Searching online, I see vendors selling BCGs specific to this caliber and I see blog and forum posts where people say a 223/5.56 BCG is all that is required. Do I need a special BCG or will any 5.56 one work?

    Terminology... :sad20:

The Bolt Carrier Group (BCG) is not the same as a 5.56/.223

The Bolt Carrier is the same as a 5.56/.223, and is a standard bolt carrier.
The Bolt is a 7.62x39 bolt

Be aware there are two 7.62x39 bolt standards. They differ in headspacing (how deep the face of the bolt is machined.) Make sure you get whichever one 50Beo uses.
