It's fair to point out that of all the "needs" mentioned and satirized above, the right to bear arms is the ONLY one delineated as a protected right in the COTUS.

If more liberals actually had the cognitive skills to process the irony of their own rhetoric, this would ALWAYS be the best answer. But I think most lefties are missing an important brain structure: the hypcritocampus.

    Yep.

Anyone who tries to tell me what I "need" is a Communist in training. "You don't need that." What? Somebody is in charge of deciding what I need? Not in my country. Americans are free citizens, and will do as we damn well please.

America is all about "want", not "need". "Need" is for those spineless subjects of kings and dictators, who grovel at their feet and hope for scraps to come from the government. If it please the crown... Those people need to grow a pair, get a job and solve their own problems.

And for those Communists with short memories:

The very best answer to this I have ever seen is:

"Why did Rosa Parks 'need' to sit at the front of the bus?"

    Rights don't require justifications.

Bravo! That’s the best answer I’ve heard!

Why does a gay man "need" a "marriage?" He can just as easily engage in his anal-sex based relationship without the license, but liberals seem to think this is the most important right known to man.

To protect the people from the government if it so becomes corrupt and repressive to the people.

    My reply is as follows:

There are only 3 "Needs",food water and shelter. Everything else is a want.

That usually confuses them enough that they forget what they were asking in the first place.

    Why do we need... ?
    - a car(s)
    - a tv(s)
    - cable
    - cigarettes
    - liquor
    - beer
    - to say the Pledge of Allegiance
    - to speak negatively of someone
    - to go to church
    - not go to church
    - to vote
    yada yada.

Channeling Rosa Parks is absolutely brilliant, being absolutely proper and on point. The question IS of that level of importanance.

Invoking it will also have the side effect of gaining respect among the questioners peers. (snicker)

Freedom and be inconvenient at times.
