Do any Yugo's have chrome lined barrels? I thought there was a reason behind them not having it?

the country didnt have the ability to chrome line at that scale back when they first started and never wanted to change there ways

The O-PAP is as close to a M70 as you can legally get these days. I hand picked all of mine, every bit as nice as an Arsenal with a better looking finish for less $$

    Stock up now

every bit as nice as an arsenal...

Except without chrome in the bore
    Or on the piston
    or in the muzzle brake
    or anywhere else
And the barrel steel is like 22 HRC hardness

Other than that, yeah, every bit as nice as an arsenal

This seemed off to me. I got the answer from Zastava:

Hardness of the barrel is about 35HRc and it is cold hammer forged.

What about the other things? Why no chrome bore, piston or anywhere else?

I'm in the market for an O-PAP. Where are you hand picking these?

Gas piston is stainless steel compliance part.

Yugo M70's never used chrome bore, and they dont need it. the barrels are very strong; I built some yugo rifles with worn barrels that went through the wars and they still shot acceptable groups given their age/use.

they are all sold out now, I grabbed mine last year. It took people a while to catch on to how great they are. You can still find some on gunbroker, Im looking to pick another one up if I find some I'll let you know. Atlantic is supposed to get one last batch in. If they are under 750 I suggest you buy one.

Also, don't forget the N-PAP underfolder. Very impressive

Thanks. I'll keep an eye out as well. I'm not looking for an underfolder. I really want a traditional stock.

I don't have any experience with them but I do have experience with their SKS and in my opinion, its the least desirable one in my eyes.

what does a SKS have to do with Yugo AKs?

Even if we are comparing the Yugo SKS to chinese, russian, albanian etc they are all about the same. I detect sour grapes because you missed out on the real deal pre-oct 1

Owell, at least you have Keymod rails. ;)

The real deal? You mean like this that I got for $700 on September 22nd?

I have one too 26-61. O pap is nicer in my opinion, which I'm sure is a minority opinion. Something about the appeal of a Russian AK

Then wouldn't PSLs still be legal?

The PSL is for all intents and purposes an upsized AK with parts sized for the 54R round. Strip a 47 and a PSL and the operation and parts are the same except for the size.

The SVD (Dragunov) and clones use a different operating system and are not clones of the AK action adjusted for size. At least as far as I understand it. I have stripped and cleaned a PSL, but never got to do the same to an SVD.
