I was thinking about one of these.

Edit: Hmm..maybe not. Just read that the handguards will have cracks and may be missing teeth...

SARCO is not shipping parts kits to MD

I hand picked all my M16 parts from a dealer at the Gettysburg show. I even got to colormatch. I also saw those SARCO sets in person and they are beat.

Were there any more barrels available? I'm getting a new one from AR15 Sports, but would much prefer an original.

I just lucked into my barrel for 125.00, which kicked off this retro build.

Check Gunny's Surplus and Sir Plus Supply, they have a few parts you're needing. Used GI parts but in pretty good shape.
I have purchased from both. Sir Plus has excellent service and ship speed. Gunny's is a one man operation, a little slower but it will get to you.

Interesting. I remember a few years ago Fulton Armory had new old stock barrels that they were using to build the retro uppers. Of course they're all sold out now.

I should have bought one then.

I received my parts kit today, and was surprised to find it was very complete, and even included the disconnector which they said it didnt. I'll probly throw it out and get the semi parts, even though they are easily modded to Semi configuration, I'd be worried about removing the heat treat in doing so. This is a really nice condition kit and i may order a second one.

I wound up just buying a for-real Colt 603 upper to do my retro build. Wound up being marginally more expensive (~$50-$100) than a parts kit build, but I wanted the genuine barrel. Also wound up getting better parts, IMHO, but that's a different story.
