OK have a Bush Master HBAR AR now. Goal is to have a lighter, shorter AR.

I'm thinking of swaping the 20" barrel for a light weight 16" barrel along with adding a collapsable stock.

change the hand guard along the way,but not sure there yet.

Just buy new 16" barrel. Fit it to my lower reciever. Change fixed stock with collapseable stock along with buffer tube and spring?
On the right path or more to it?:)

Also going from a fixed stock to a collapsible you'll need a castle nut, and end plate.

As Mark pointed out, diff't length gas tube to match the barrel's gas port location. Carbine or mid-length depending on the barrel.

*And you'll be fitting the barrel to the UPPER reciever, unless you really want to be diff't. ;)

    lol

if you are just replacing the barrel, make sure the handguard still fit with different gas system. since its currently 20"=rifle length. you need diff. handguard for either carbine or middy barrel/gas system.

i think you'd be better off just buying a complete upper.

Dang you guys. Now I'm thinking of just building a new rifle.
Palmetto has some nice kits. So does FTF. Add a lower and sights and it falls into place.
    Any feedback on FTF?:)
