OK I did'nt need a new rifle. Heck was'nt even looking for a new rifle.
But WTH bought a Remington Model 700 in 30-6 caliper in what I thought to be a good deal. Know the original owner who had about 300 rounds thru it used for hunting.
Stock condition with wood stock along with a Tasco 3-9X24 scope on it for $300.00.

Hats off to the wife who never flinched when I brought it home.
Got a feeling she'll get even buying more horse related stuff at the Harrisburg horse expo.

From what I'm told. The Model 700 is a favored rifle for distance shooting.
Never owned a large caliper bolt gun. My largest bolt rifle is a Marlin 22 mag thats a hoot to shoot. The 30-6 should prove to be a lot of fun
Now I have 2 new guns to try up the cabin in WV in two weeks.
The new Bushmaster Ar along with this. Time to start buying ammo:)

Nice rifle for a great price. I have a sps in .308 and the grouping at 100yds is awesome. Haven't really had a chance to take it out further.

Blackbart. Believe it's a CDL version.
Still trying to look up the serial numbers to know for sure.
So far think the price of the scope is worth the price I paid for the gun.
Searching the Remington forums. The 700 is a very popular and accurate rifle in stock form.
But like most here. We can't leave nothing stock.
I've never had a caliper as large as a 30-06 and really looking forward to see how well it will reach out and touch a target.
Range report in 2 weeks once I return from WV:)

Very Nice! I have the same setup minus the comp and knob. Very accurate. I just wish they bedded (even pillars would be okay) the action and floated the barrel with those hogue stocks. Despite all that, mine has impressed me every time I've shot it :)
