He signed the national parks carry bill attached to a credit card reform bill.

Concealed carry with full reciprocity and few restrictions in DC is a completely different animal than the national parks carry bill. He won't sign any bill this is attached to.

The democrats believe Home-Rule is more important than the constitution when it comes to DC

It's being used as a political Petri dish, lol.
Legalized marijuana and less drug enforcement? Check.
    Same-sex marriage? Check.
Carry permits and/or other forms of carry? Check(ing).

If DC weren't so otherwise messed-up, expensive, and not really supposed to be a place of residency, it could really be a decent place to live, lol.

2016 Presidential nomination talking point...if he were serious about representing "the people" that aren't in his state, he'd do this for the entire country.

Maybe the language is good, but it is on balance I see it as a bad thing.

I agree that this is likely a purely political move on the part of Rubio. Designed to stir up part of his base without actually doing anything.

Since it is likely that it will get killed in the Senate and that it won't get signed into law this will be a political defeat for good legislation - defeats really don't help anything unless you are trying to just put model legislation on the record for future efforts (doesn't appear to be the case here).

Even worse is that some might actually think Rubio is a conservative and suck votes away from folk who actually are conservative. Understand that I like Rubio (seems a nice and intelligent guy) but he is either not a conservative or he is bizarrely naive on some things.

So Rubio tosses a little red meat to the base with the certain knowledge that the legislation really won't go anywhere and thus by 2016 it will have largely been forgotten by the anti-RKBA types since it really wasn't a serious effort.

It's a work of fiction. The petty tyrants and psychopaths in charge that suck the life out of the District day-to-day will never allow their subjects the means to resist.

Interesting analogy to Heller / McDonald ...

Low hanging fruit indeed. esqappellate and krucam care to comment on that aspect.

There nothing easy about carry outside the home legally. Politically it is easy for Rubio to file the bill. It cant hurt him (no one cares about DC in Florida) and can only help with the base. The real test is how hard he pushes it and whether it actually gets passed. That stuff is done behind the scenes. Otherwise its just grandstanding at no cost.
