Have you tried heating it with a propane torch to loosen the loctite?

Yeah, but can't heat to much. My issue is I don't have a true "Barrel vise", have never needed one for all the other savage barrels I have taken apart but this one is killing me

What you need is an upper receiver vice block. Place the receiver in the block, clamp the block in a vice and then unscrew the barrel nut. Be sure to remove the gas tube before trying to unscrew the nut. OOPS, was thinking this was an AR.

For some reason, my mind went into AR mode. Savage is different. An old standby for clamping rifle barrels was to bore a hole thru a block of hardwood then cut it in two lengthways. Coat the block with rosin and clamp in a vice. Crude but may work.
