    Does anyone do melonite treatment locally? I am up in the air between cerakote/park or melonite on a current 1911 build but the more I think of it i may go melonite if I can find something locally.

    Thanks
    Steve

    If I must I may just learn to park myself but if I can find a source I want to try to replicate a pistol I saw on another forum.

    I would suggest Ionbond DLC coating instead of melonite. It's tougher and doesn't require the high heat that melonite does during the coating process. It also can be done on all parts, including small ones (melonite cannot be done on small parts).

    I am going to have to look that up. Does it provide the wear and corrosion resistance that a melonite coating can?

    It sounds like they won't do the bore and chamber though;

    When a barrel is coated does that include the bore and chamber?

    No. Special precautions are made to keep the coatings from entering these areas.
