I just won a free Glock from Glock themselves at The Big 3 East event in Florida. :party29:

I just need to see if i want to wait until Decmber for gen 5 to be approved or get the gen 4 now.

Does anyone know a ball park date on when the gen 5 approval will happen?
Seems like December, I have a 17 & 19 in purgatory until such time.

I was told direct from the horses mouth first week of January:(

Review>30 or so days to be protested>couple weeks to be updated on official state roster>Maryland 7 day wait from day of approval on roster set December 28-29 iirc)

    Basically around Jan 3-4-5

either stupid or holier-than-thou or perhaps both. what is it, maybe 5-10% different than previous gen's and they can't just rubber stamp it. your tax dollars hard at work. there's a reason i have shooting buddies that outright refuse to do any matches in the not-so free state.

Wowzers, after yrs of not doing anything with handguns, I take the plunge, spend my 200 bucks for md HQL, run out and buy my 1st Glock, Gen 4 17.
The day I come home with it, I log on here and see that the Gen 5's are coming... I'm left handed and wonder about the ambi release... but heck, I've survived all these years with out it.

Gen 4 can be converted to left handed mag release.

Yessir, Got that part. My bad in the post, did I see Ambi Slide release?

Yep, it has an ambi slide release. Here is a pic of it, its the thumbnail for the video that we are getting ready to put on YouTube. We had the chance to shoot one at Big 3 East and talk to Glock about it

Rented the gen 5 G17 yesterday at On Target, put about 200rds through it. Really like the grip texture, lack of finger grooves, and the dual recoil spring recoil (only shot Gen 2/3 until now), but the trigger was pretty bad (even for a Glock), and the ambi slide release is no good for me (lefty).

Obviously still waiting for my Gen 5's to be released from jail but I have never expected anything from Gen's 3-5 to compare to the trigger on a Gen 2 Glock. I snatch up Gen 2's any chance I get.

Anyone with a Gen 2 looking to dump it to raise cash for a Gen 5, let me know.

    New glock gen 5

Don't like finger-grooves on any handgun or grips...never have. If you have just the right sized had to fit it that's fine. Mine don't. It's good to see Glock recognizing that not everyone's hands fit the finger-grooved models.

Speaking just for myself, the Glock grip angle is too severe...I grew up on 1911's and it just feels natural (Thanks John Browning!). Tupperware guns are ok...I have a Glock M30 and a couple H&K USP's. I think they're good tools...not works of art and that's ok.

I won't be running out to buy a new Glock...there's always something being released to get people to buy the newest and latest thing. New doesn't necessarily mean better...marketing is what it's all about.

They have changed the rifling and they are supposed to be abit more accurate. This is the main reason I would consider one. Not sure how much more accurate. If anyone has details on this please post.
