From Match Director Dick Chadwick:
-----------------------------------------
Shooters,
The high power season kicks off at Sanner’s Lake this Saturday, March 25th, with a Vintage Military Rifle match. Details are available in the attached program. I have also included the programs for the NRA Approved matches we also will be shooting again this year. Put them on your calendar and get those rifles sighted in and join the fun. This year we are instituting a very modest award program consisting of metal pins in the shape of popular US service rifles, namely the M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, M14 (M1A in our case) and the 1903 Springfield rifle. I have been unable to find Enfield pins or other allied or enemy rifle ones as this goes to press. We also will be awarding certificates redeemable for one entry fee at a future club HP rifle match following guidelines that are also attached. You aren’t going to win much shooting our matches, but the entry fees are low and round counts low too, so you won’t spend much money to participate either. If you shoot our Approved matches regularly you will eventually earn a NRA High Power Rifle or High Power Sporting Rifle classification card which is a pretty good award by itself.
I am optimistic that this will be the year the Sanner’s Lake high power program becomes ever more popular. The Frozen Chosin match last month was very successful with 2 full relays for a total of 16 shooters. If this coming VMR match reflects that success you may want to get in touch with me and reserve a firing point, but only if you are positive you are going to shoot. Or just show up the morning of the match and see if a firing point is available or just to see what is going on. This is a very friendly and helpful bunch of shooters, come shoot with us and improve your marksmanship skills.
