All of what is happening now across the country is a direct result of the disastrous Heller case. Sure, the court's opinion gave gun owners a small victory allowing us to own a handgun...in our homes...but it also affirmed that the 2nd amendment was not an unlimited right and would continue to be regulated...a GIANT loophole for the gun grabbers to do what they want to us...we were better off before..there is a lesson in there for those who put their faith in the court. It's clear to many of us that unless you are willing to fight your rights will eventually be taken..sure you can have a handgun in your home...but the courts opinion left enough Gray area that they could make it impossible to legally buy ammo for them. The liberals in Virginia even referenced Heller as the reason they were "allowed" to pass their tyrannical new laws...I know many of you think Heller was huge for the 2nd amendment..that's pure crap..

It has NEVER been in the courts' interest (including SCOTUS) to uphold 2A. It is the only thing that threatens their monopoly in power.

What Norton said, Many people are upset with Pman.

The hard core leftists over-reached in their effort to flip AACO.

The power brokers in this state HATE AACO for being a purple/right-leaning large county.

The Eastern Shore and western Maryland lean right, but they are easily marginalized because the populations are too small to matter. They wiped out out Western Maryland with the stroke of a pen in 2010 by redistricting them into parts of MoCo that now out votes the entirety of the Maryland panhandle.

They tried to neutralize the eastern shore in 2000 by redistricting part of the Broadneck peninsula into District 1 in the belief that the western shore communities would counterbalance the eastern shore's tendency to vote republican.

Turns out that it only bolstered District 1 :lol2:

In 2010 they ripped the Broadneck peninsula away from district 1 and gerrymandered them into a heavily populated democratic district and completely eliminated most of AACO's votes that lean to the right.

AACO pushes back historically against most of the hard left agenda and the Bolsheviks hate them for it.

Pittman and these commies on the council were sent with an agenda to flip this county at all costs. They need to go.

Ah, this morning's reading material. Coupla observations (hardly comprehensive ...)

The report was prepared by LUMA Health Consulting. The authors, Barnhart, Walsh, and Bauman, are not members of the Task Force. (well, not "officially")
[...] LUMA Health Consulting, LLC, an independent public health consulting firm, has written this Report based on Task Force work to date and will be preparing a memorandum of topline recommendations including an assessment for feasibility and impact, to support the objectives of the Task Force and the AACDOH.
    The main bullet points:
    • Implementing gun purchasing restrictions in the form of: restricting the purchase of firearms for individuals who are convicted of alcohol related offenses, history of violence, individuals charged or convicted of intimate partner violence.
    • Requiring criminal background checks for all firearm purchases.
    • Ensuring that gun purchasers have a gun purchasing license.
    • Expanding the education, implementation, and evaluation of the Red Flag Gun Law.
    • Requiring prior proficiency testing as a prerequisite for 100% of gun purchases.
    • Require the report of lost or stolen guns within 48 hours (the current Maryland State law allows for a 72-hour reporting period) in Anne Arundel County.
    • Require unattended guns/firearms to be secured with a child safety lock.
    • Incorporate teaching on firearm safety and gun violence into the medical education curriculum for medical students and behavioral health professionals.
Plenty to comment on there, like "proficiency test required for each firearm purchase?" and "I'm single and have no children, still need the child safety lock? in my safe?"

But wait, there's more. The Gun Take Force has been determined to frame "gun violence" as a public health crisis. They stuck to their guns: (see what I did there?)
    • Declare gun violence a public health crisis in Anne Arundel County.
    • Enact policy to require gun and pawn shops maintain ammunition logs each time an ammunition sale is made. Logs should be accessible and reportable to Anne Arundel County Police Department.
    • Join the National Gun Safety Consortium for support with advocacy efforts for the productions of guns/firearms with safety features.
    • Implement a later school start time in order to increase sleep for adolescents as prevention for gun violence risk factors.
    • Establish funding for a Firearms Examiner position within Anne Arundel County Police Department and a firearms lab.
    • Invest funding strategically to communities impacted by gun violence.
Ammo logs, smart guns, later school start times, police firearms lab ... none of these are "public health" recommendations. So, why the big push to make this a public health crisis? By their own metrics, the number of firearm-involved deaths in AACo is pretty small - nominally 50 per year for each of 2014 thru 2018 (that number includes suicides-by-firearm.) AACo population is about 575k. Clearly there has to be some value in doing so:
Establish protocols for screening individuals for gun safety practices in their homes during primary care visits. Empower healthcare providers to meaningfully screen for “high-risk” situations including depression, substance abuse disorder, the presence of intimate-partner violence, risks associated with geriatric populations including dementia, and to have developed protocols in place to provide interventions to support patients and families.
And there it is. Under the cover of "health care," your physician can enter your home and screen you for gun safety practices. Initially it'll be by your "invitation," but like Obamacare, the system won't be effective unless everyone participates. I fully expect this to migrate toward compulsory participation as part of your healthcare plan. It'll start with seemingly innocuous questions during an office visit that will be "probable cause" to justify an in-home "screening." You have nothing to hide, right?

There's plenty more, but I think that's enough to raise your blood pressure a bit. One final note:
The Task Force recommends this work be continued through Anne Arundel County Department of Health, in partnerships with community stakeholders, the Task Force, and academic partners including the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Gun Violence.
Yes, of course you do. Michael would be quite cross if you hadn't.

Yeah, I’m not doing it. If it is required, I will not have a single patient who owns a gun.

Thanks for all of you that attempted to testify and defend the 2A rights of the residents of AACO.

I have quite a few friends from AACC are politically moderate and do not own guns. However the recent COVID and protest events have them contacting me and asking for advice on what to do, what to buy and how to do it.

They are getting the following email today along with any other free advice requested.

Just FYI since you guys are interested in buying guns. This was just released yesterday and relevant to AACO.

The laws are already quite restrictive in MD but your awesome county executive felt the need to create a taxpayer funded gun safety taskforce to solve the totally non-existent gun violence problem in AACO. The reports findings pretty much state that none of the county’s resident pions (like you guys) can be trusted to own firearms and ammunition safely. So they produced a 130 page report which attempts to brand gun violence as a public health crisis only to be solved by more common sense restrictions to keep you safe from gun violence. I know guys who actually went to the hearings and tried to testify and present statistics which contradicts the “Guns are bad narrative” as well as present statistics and examples of how persons have used firearms to successfully defend themselves and families. Their testimony was not considered relevant by the taskforce committee. Go figure.

For the record AACO has had on average about 50 firearm fatalities per year over the past 4 yrs. This includes suicides and those killed by police! Including the Suicides and police killings, That equates to about a per capita rate if less than 0.0001%.

I guess you could thank those who love to virtue signal on facebook about how bad guns are. The politicians are paying attention and prepared to protect you from yourself.

Read the attached report and be prepared to vote to protect your rights from now on, and spread the word.

No kidding. By making someone else responsible, they are ensuring no one will own a gun unless the PCD is a brother/sister/mother/father.
