Anything that the local government decides, Congress has to approve/disapprove, which means the people of DC aren't really in control of anything.

The elected government of the city itself...they just try whatever, with no regard to existing law or precedent, and rely on Congress to set them straight. If it slips under Congress's radar, it's pretty much good-to-go.

A bit like an overgrown, out of control HOA

    What an *******.

She says, in the same breath, that she will protect the Constitution but wishes there weren't any guns in the District. Let's see if she'll fire her protective staff.

These hard Leftists can't believe that everyone doesn't see their worldview.

Bowser spent more of her speech, however, promising to make good on her campaign pledges of making the city more hospitable to the poor, the old, and the longtime residents who have felt left out by the city’s growth. She pledged to “to listen, to learn and to also to act.”

Well, considering that Bowser doesn't have a firehose hooked directly to the printing presses over at Treasury, she's going to have to extract funds from people who participate in the economy to be more hospitable to those who don't. I don't see how to interpret this statement otherwise.

My BIL just moved to DC. I look forward to some lively discussions the next time I see him.

Nothing new here. D.C. gets what they voted for. They wanted her apparently, just like they wanted and got Marion Barry. They have to live with her, I don't. I avoid that crap hole at all costs....

My BIL responded that her coronation cost $1.15M, which makes Gray's cost of a paltry $714k seem downright reasonable. While this article claims no taxpayer funds were spent on the festivities, you've gotta give a big thumbs-up to corporate cronyism.

let's start a campaign and tell her if she hates guns so much she should have all her staff disarm themselves, and make sure to tell the world that she is doing so.

Push her into a corner where she can either admit that A) guns serve a purpose or B)She's more important than the rest of us so the laws don't apply to her

There's no way out of that for her.

    Propose it on tv

She'll just lie about it and we'll just have wasted electrons doing it.
