First off, I am not even sure if this belongs in the C&R forum. I don't know whether the pistol I am about to request info qualifies as C&R so I apologize in advance if I am in the wrong place.
A friend has a Chinese type 54 pistol dated 1963 that needs a new slide and barrel bushing. The weapon came from an NVA officer during Vietnam and the slide and bushing were supposedly damaged in a grenade attack. The gun functions as it should, but probably isn't safe to fire. I do not have picture to show you but the buffer spring cap has been replaced with a 9MM cartridge case and the lower half of the barrel bushing that holds the buffer spring in place is mostly gone. I can pull the slide back, lock it, chamber a round and I am sure it will fire, it's just not real safe as is. Friend would like to make is safe and shoot it.
My questions are:
Since this is just a Tok clone, will the slide and bushing from any tok fit?
If not are there any other options?
