The Finnish examples are well regarded. The Swedish were said to have used somewhat inferior steel.

They are great freezing-weather pistols, as you might expect. I haven't priced them lately, but I think $600 is a good price, IIRC.

Can anyone tell me the pro's & con's of this gun in decent condition if someone is asking 600.00 for one .

This is just a link and not the actual sale item .

As long as the frame isn't cracked from shooting hot sub gun ammo, I'd be interested at $600. Serial numbers with a D-prefix were issued to the Danish police (a desirable feature, especially if police marked), so you might ask about that.

they tend to have cracked frames do to an added slide accelerator which compensates for the colder climate. its not necessarily from sub gun ammo/

The accelerator pushes the slide BACK not forward.
The slide tends to crack at the cutout for the accelerator...
so you could argue that it's the accelerator's fault but it's really due to the hotter ammo stressing that point.
See middle of this page for animation (it's the best site for overall info on the M/40 I've found, as well as M1907 etc).

Note the accelerator was removed from many slides...(3rd slide variation).
Pic shows where to look for cracks in the slide.

if i'm not mistaken the pics of cracks are of a 2nd slide variation with the accelerator.
