Thinking of getting an ultrasonic cleaner for gun parts. Anyone have any recommendations? Any reason not to use one?

I have the Lyman TS-2500. Works really well, haven't seen a downside yet, except the time for the procedure. The Lyman looks suspiciously like the HF unit (Lyman more $$$). I use RCBS Ultrasonic Cleaner. I settle out particulates using a tall graduated cylinder after each batch/run, and occasionally add some citric acid powder to rejuvenate the solution.

google is your friend, I am not.
I saw the Hornady model that can fit an entire ar-15 upper. I am not sure it is worth it to shell out that much money.

But its like a big hot tub for your AR15! Doesn't your baby deserve a nice soapy bath? Have you ever seen how much shit collects in the trigger area of a pistol caliber AR? You could scrub it for days and miss all the nooks where gunk collects.

You get one and quickly figure out it is not big enough... I use mine at work for everything that can possibly fit into it :D

The Harbor Fright model is great for small parts. Just don't use anything other than a water based cleaner as anything else will destroy the rubber seals. Ask me how I know.

A question for those smarter than me.

If I want to clean something in a solvent bath can I put it in something like a pickle jar, then put that in a water bath in my HF US?

Will the US waves transfer through the glass to what I need cleaned?

Yes, this is exactly how we use them in our laboratories.
