I found a crack in the stock by the bayonet, and the bolt cover number doesn't match. The stock is really grubby too.

For the price, I'm very satisfied.

I was looking for a project,

So, I ordered a $80.00 broken stock special T53 from SOG. This was $103.00 and change shipped. with no hand pick. I don't understand the rhyme or reason of SOG's grading system, but I'm not complaining. I don't see any breaks or even cracks. It's a clean 1954 with mismatched numbers, good bluing, and pretty nice wood. It might be a good looking gun when I clean it up.

    Awesome!

I am pretty sure I saw a M44 or Type 53 in the new Arnold movie: Sabotage. It was in Monster's (Sam Worthington's) house above the fireplace when the homicide lady comes to interview he and his crazy wife.

    True story

Definitely a less on how to make a flower wallpaper look manly in less than 30 seconds.
Now you can carve a thanksgiving turkey AND cut some firewood with the same tool

Hey, now I don't feel so bad about the picture of my "gay Type 53" as someone put it, with the flowery wallpaper in the background!

COOL Bayonet! Samco says they are going to ship my K31 next week. I'll have to get a bayonet eventually, they aren't cheap though!

Actually, the typical K31 bayonets aren't too expensive, especially considering how nice they are. I have 3 un-issued ones that were something like $70 shipped, and 2 serialized ones that I got from AIM were around $45 each shipped. The deals are out there, you just gotta find them. If you get a K31 you NEED a bayonet.

That wallpaper is original to the house when we moved in, probably 50+ years old. The gun rack is actually original to the house, too. Before I owned the house, a scoped German drilling WW2 bring back (civilian weapon stolen from a house in Germany) was on that rack.
