I bet there is some merit from this excerpt of the press release about the article explaining why these laws had little impact ...

... the small size of the population directly affected by the laws.

Laws that target the lowest common denominator or infrequent incidents are massive political hand waves to give the appearance of trying to solve societal problems that primarily reduce freedom/liberty and do nothing for public safety.

Take mag size bans that are based on zero data, just opinions of supposed experts. There are maybe 50-200 people killed in mass shooting events a year from a total of approximately 30,000 annual firearm related deaths. Is it clear that in the 50-200 deaths that a greater than 10-rd capacity mag resulted in more deaths? What would the impact of a nationwide ban on greater than 10-rd capacity mags on firearm related deaths? Almost for certain it would be statistically insignificant. Two-thirds of annual firearm-related deaths are suicides. Suicides are not affected by mag capacity.

These laws are no more than an attempt at herding the population. In an attempt to cause everyone to come under control of the "leaders". They want everyone branded and kept in the coral. Any resistance to their herding attempts will simply be met with new laws to bring the masses under control. The innocent will continue to be preyed upon by the controllers and the criminals alike. While arming the masses would help to protect them from the criminals... keeping the masses disarmed will allow the controllers to control without able opposition of an armed population. The controllers ONLY care about their goal... so some of the masses are sacrificed to the criminals without recourse nor remorse.

Remind them that VA Tech was done with 2 handguns. A 9mm and a .22. No extended magazines. Most were 10 rounds. Assault weapon bans wouldn’t help, magazine bans wouldn’t help. They don’t care.

    It’s not about safety.

Disarm the law-abiding, and run the gangbangers through the revolving door (the so-called "Maryland Solution") = increased crime and fear.

Fear enables increasing control of the law-abiding.

    Works every time.
