Gen1, that was the only Gen that came with a factory ported barrel in the 17L variation. I am have my Gen3 17L barrel ported to match my Gen3 24C barrel though.

Coming from the factory, that part I know (DA909). But, everybody wanted a ported one after the Gen2's came out. So, owners sent their barrels or bought spares to have ported ones.
An now I remember your photos on golktalk. Nice collection!
BTW, if anyone in this thread is interested, I need a couple test subjects for the Glock front sight plug I'm designing for no-irons Roland/Fauxland Special builds. PM me if this is something you'd be interested in using now and I'll mail you one for T&E. I'd prefer a factory slide, but others could be OK.

This week was the first time I had my Glock 26 outside in a very dark place - the Utah desert. Here is a cell phone picture I took with Ameriglo ghost ring sights and a Streamlight TLR-6 on it. The Ameriglo sites were so bright I had to turn the sights away from me in the tent overnight, it was like having 3 green LEDs in my face. The weed I have the laser on was a good 20 to 30 yards away.
Friend at work has said for as long as I can remember "I'll never get a Glock". Wants a G19x. I said, well do it!

I was never a big Glock fan either. I shot a 19x and really liked, so I went an bought one. I have to say it's my favorite modern handgun I own right now. I also got it for a really good price.

I may be missing something, but can someone explain to me the appeal of the 19X?
If you already have the long grip, why do you need to chop the slide/barrel down? Are you really saving that much weight?
If anything I would like to see a 17 slide on a 19 frame for carry. Grip won't print as much (depending on the position) and you still get the extra sight radius. And I suppose extra velocity, though I realize that is minimal.

I'm probably wrong. But, here goes. Glock is trying to grab a little cash. Since they got no MHS contract, just put out something that's close and people will buy it. FN and Sig, more Sig, are doing the same. It would be nice if they put the MOS cut on it. Also ,it fills a perceived hole in the 19 lineup. It is a nice fun and not a knock on it. Just my opinion.
