Thought I'd share this, don't know much about it other than my wife's grandfather got it back during the war. From the marking it doesn't seem that sought after. If anyone knows anything would love to hear. I'm guessing it was an officer's given the condition.

I'm not sure. I don't have pictures of the markings and I don't have the knife at my house.

Growing up, my dad had a German knife, he brought back from WWII. However, through the years it's been misplaced and is lost forever.

    Congrats!

Do you have the scabbard? The thing looks really clean. Is there a Reichszeugmeisterei stamp on other side of blade?
My FIL still has his Hitlerjugend knife, and his Mauser rifle. Lost his pistol in the Elbe river.

Yup still have the scabbard as well. Will have to check for the stamp.

Not knowing much about WWII knives, I would think with the condition that It is in, and having Nazi Markings would seem to make it valuable. If you think about how many officers there are compared to the normal rank and file soldiers, that makes me think it would be less of these than say an issued bayonet.

Nice SA dagger! They are certainly sought after by collectors! Yes, there were a lot made and they aren't rare by any means, but there are certainly a lot of WWII German militaria collectors out there (myself included!) interested in daggers. I usually see these go for $400+ depending on condition and maker, but it should be considered priceless with the family history

Yeah, about $400 and up although lately I've seen many of them selling for closer to $600.

I too inherited a boatload of WW2 memorabilia - some knives, guns (1941 BYF P07 and holster, P38 no holster), including a pristine HJ knife AND an SA knife. The SS daggers - authenticated - sell for upwards of $5,000.

I hope never to "have to" sell my stuff but to pass it on to my kids who are jewish by birth, but baptized in Jesus' name by choice (mom too). "Niemals vergessen" right? My how the Volk have forgotten.

Imagine though, right after the war, people were melting those things for industry.
