WC just showed you the *Largest* .

Now if the part of the OP about" and carry in pocket" is important Think a blade of +/- 4 inches.

Just my opinion but the definition of a "gravity knife" has gotten twisted completely. NY has completely perverted it. Maybe you can indeed flick many knives to open them but that DOES NOT make them a gravity knife. The test for a gravity knife should be to see if gravity can open it without flicking the whole knife.

This is not an issue under Maryland law. Unlike NY and many other states, the phrase "gravity knife" does not appear anywhere in the MD statute, contrary to the word of many internet armchair lawyers. There was a bit of case law back in the 1960's that covered true gravity knives (force of gravity only, not inertia) but it has since been superseded by the change in statutory language and the phrasing of Mackall v State in the late 1970s. If it folds, and isn't spring-loaded, it's legal. And see Sorrell v McGuigan for what happens to cops that fail to comply with the Mackall ruling.

All kinds of misinformation in this thread.

Under Maryland state law you can indeed carry a switchblade, as long as it is not concealed or carried "with the intent or purpose of injuring an individual in an unlawful manner." See Md. CRIMINAL LAW Code Ann. § 4-101.

Unfortunately they are illegal to open carry in some jurisdictions within the state (e.g., Baltimore City and Ocean City).

Here is the deal in MD, any folder no matter the size is considered a "pen knife" and excluded as a deadly weapon. Any fixed blade is considered a Bowie knife. A folder carried in the open position is considered a bowie knife.- George

Not quite. The Timber Rattler is bigger. Open length is 17.75". And it's legal to carry concealed in MD, assuming your pockets are huge. :lol2:
