Well after what feels like forever my 6.8 hunting setup is finally finished, thanks in major part to 3paul10.

Just throwing this list of parts out to give people an idea of what things cost when building a fairly basic AR. And of course you can spend $500 on a complete AR or $5000.

    Anderson stripped lower $60
    PSA Defender MOE LPK $61
    Luth-AR Buffer tube kit $45
    Magpul MOE fixed stock $65
    (2) CPD 10 round mags $30
    CPD 28 round mag $25

    Anderson stripped upper $60
    Anderson upper parts kit $20
    Anderson charging handle $20
    Anderson gas block $22
Spikes melonited mid length gas tube $13
    ARPerformance NiB BCG $165
    ARPerformance SOCOM 5R 16" barrel $200
    ARPerformance Vortex flash hider $30
    AR-Stoner extended scope mount $65
ALG EMR MLOK 13" rail $120
    Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x24 $360

    Total $: $1361
    Total weight: 8.4lbs
Accuracy: Will be reported this weekend.

Love that the 28 round mag looks like an AK mag lol.

First I've seen 6.8spc mags with an AK like curve. I thought that was just a 7.62x39 AR thing....

I believe it's a new design from CPD. Supposed to allow a tad more capacity without the feeding issues from the older models.

My thought too. Heck, i wrote "6.8"on the side of my 6.8 mags with a paint pen since they are identical to 5.56 mags.

My 10 rounders are identical and so was the original 25 round CPD I had, but the 28 is clearly shaped differently and also is labeled on the side.

Super excited, just stumbled into a dozen boxes of Federal XM68GD ammo. Couldn't help but take them all.

Keep checking at palmetto, every so often they will run a sale on those. 9.99 a box. That's the only factory load I've shot out of mine. I do it just for plinking ammo, then use the brass for good stuff. I did run a box of those over a chrono last summer and they shot an average of 2980. A lot of people are using that load for deer. Good luck and post the results. Those ARP barrels are gtg.

Federal discontinued the XM68GD by name, they are now called the Federal Fusion MSR. Same bullet but jacked the price up to $25 a box.

Pretty excited I got these today.

Did not know that, I do have about 1200 of the gold dot pulls. Just loaded some today. When I look at your gun it would pass for a twin to mine other then scope and barrel length. To funny

What length did you go with? I'm looking forward to shooting it Saturday.
