S 618 by Senator Orrin Hatch of UT.

Big change is it will allow stops for food, restrooom and overnight lodging.

Also provides legal protection from wrongful arrest and prosecutions and recovery of damages.

Loaded magazines are also ok, as long as locked up.

Will post House Version when introduced.

phht So what, the State AG in NJ,NY and MD will arrest you anyways.

And then get sued and have to pay damages. The old law had no legal protections for travelers other than using it as an affirmative defense.. This one does.

I guess you nattering nabobs of negativity would prefer nothing at all to try and improve our lot.

    Sheesh.

"Congress has other powers that would be more appropriate. The Full Faith and Credit Clause empowers Congress to “prescribe * * * the Effect” of state acts, records, or judicial proceedings in other states. U.S. Const. art. IV, § 1. For instance, the Full Faith and Credit for Child Support Orders Act requires certain state child support laws to be given their full effect in every other state. See 28 U.S.C. § 1738B(h). Similarly, the Parental Kidnaping Prevention Act requires every state to recognize certain child custody judgments from other states, and it forbids them from exercising their ordinary jurisdiction over such disputes."

Interesting take, i wonder if for purposes of the FOPA revisions being proposed this suggestion from the national CCW proposal might be worth incorporating to the FOPA efforts especially with regard to AWB's, or any legally owned firearm or component for that matter like magazine bans and ammunition ect. clarifying that after the commerce / transaction has occurred. So unless a criminal act is being engaged, congress using the full faith and credit clause could clarify the burden being placed upon the states. Narrowing the field of laws attempting to ban or criminalize otherwise legal lawful property that is merely in transportation or possessed without any criminal intent. anyways reading that made me wonder if its applicable as well to the FOPA efforts since commerce clause FOPA protections might meet some judicial gutting down the road
