I am too lazy/tired/hungry right now to read this whole thread again this year, can someone tell me where to go to get the best one for T-Giving this year? Do I have to order in advance? How long would it be good for? I have to travel from the eastern shore to pick it up in SOMD and then take it to Ocean City on T-Giving. Could I start the cooking at home in the morning and finish it down in Ocean City?

    Yes order in advance

Good for at least a week if it lasts that long without being eaten. You could pick it up the weekend before and should be good to go.

It will already be cooked and ready to go when you get it. It is best served cold not hot.

    Places to check with:

    Chaptico Market https://www.visitstmarysmd.com/shopping/detail/chaptico-market

    McKay's Market (Hollywood) http://mckays.mywebgrocer.com/StoreLocator.aspx?&cc=1&s=338980164&g=b878e91a-edd5-42b3-93cb-3af5e3423b1f&uc=39ABF141

    and W J Dent (Chief's) http://www.wjdent.com/stuffed-ham.html

If you do plan on coming over this way shoot me a PM and I'll hook you up with some karma.

Also try Nicks of Calvert and Murphy's Town and Country.
A lot of local churches around here will advertise that they will be selling stuffed hams in the next month or so.
You may want to PM thewhitebuffalo as I remember his church sells stuffed hams during the season. And orders are limited.

Last year I walked into Nick's and got one a couple days before Thanksgiving. Check the specials freezer up front.

I emailed St.Inigoes and the response that I got was that it is sold by the pound. I thought I was buying a whole ham. Am I confused or do other places sell a whole ham?

If you want a whole ham, tell them so, they might give you a little price break. It is usually served already sliced, sometimes with some extra stuffing for color and presentation. Unless you have a large commercial meat slicer, why not let them do it and not have to worry.

I was looking for a good picture but found this old article from our local online news. http://somd.com/news/headlines/2007/6754.shtml

My family is holding their stuffed ham party this Sunday. We will be making at least 6 stuffed hams.

I will be shooting at the SCSC Appleseed shoot in Waldorf while everyone else is working to prep the hams. Once Appleseed is done I have the job of cooking them.

Ok, I get it. It just never crossed my mind that it wouldn't be whole. I only need 7lbs. so I will just buy that. I will be down there on Monday, so I will send you a PM and we can have lunch on me.

    EDIT: changed to Monday

Lunch yesterday from McKay's in Hollywood. Asked while I was there and they said they'd sell a whole ham but it's still same price/lb.

Nice looking sandwich. I committed to St. Inigoes and placed my order. I will be drooling until Tuesday. Hope you get hungry again before then :lol2:

Bringing this thread back. Below is the 24 pounder I stuffed christmas eve and the second is leftover stuffed ham pizza. Of which I just devoured 90 percent while watching the Ravens game. I give a bunch away every year and I'll still be eating it til the end of the week.

Stuffed ham, meh. I grew up outside Frederick and will take old-fashioned country ham every time, especially if I can get oysters with it. Ham the saltier and more leathery the better, then sliced paper-thin. Last ham and oyster supper I went to up in Lewistown, we were served by none other than Sheriff Chuck Jenkins himself. Xmas Day, we had country ham and biscuits and I made scalloped oysters to go with them. A taste of heaven.

Oysters in this part of the state are a given. Christmas usually involves stuffed ham, crab cakes and oysters. None of that turkey junk.

For sure ham, raw oysters/oyster fritters/padded oysters/oyster stew , and crab cakes/crab dip/cream of crab (ans some fresh and smoked kielbasa) made up my Christmas holidays when I was younger.

Well this Fredneck resident had a SOMD stuffed ham for the first time the other day. I was a little reluctant, but i have to say, it was pretty damn good
