Did you guys remove the rear sight as well, using the screws inside the receiver? Or has that stayed tight?
The original Benelli pistol grip fixed stock fits. You just screw it onto the recoil spring tube.
The mesa urbino stock fits. That does not screw on like a Benelli stock but is held secure by a bolt that comes with the kit. The original Benelli stock bolt that comes with the Benelli factory stock is too long.
I’m just gonna end up ordering the field stock from benelli.
Why not 2000 rounds with a 500 round burn down? Then maybe an ice test, then an Arizona mud test, then the gauntlet.I would love to see James Reeves at TFB do a 500rd torture test on one of these. The Black Aces died, the Citadel Boss Hog die pretty quickly, but the lowly Maverick 88 passed. Would love to see if a SDS S4 could pass.

I highly doubt it would pass.

I’d be more interested to see a long term review from some folks using them for 3 gun or another shotgun sport. That was kind of how the Stoeger M3000 earned its reputation. Unfortunately the M4 is not the most desirable shotgun for 3 gun, but seems to be somewhat common for club matches and other stuff.
Whats his test, Ive got 500 rounds of birdshot currently
He mixes birdshot, buckshot, 3 inch magnums if the gun says it is rated for them.
Totally fair points. For what it’s worth, I think you’ll enjoy it when you get it. Even if it possibly comes with some annoyances and teething issues.Because I am looking to get a SDS S4 relatively soon and didn't want to wait a long time. I get his tests are for entertainment, and I am entertained by them, they do have some value. The put the shotguns thru pressure and stress to see what fails. Using a mixture of birdshot, buckshot, magnums, etc. The 1301 and Maverick 88 passed the tests. The Citadel failed rather quickly, and the Black Aces didn't make it. I had considered Black Aces at one point. But, since the SDS S4 is a M4 clone, the torture test may show what its weaknesses are, what M4 parts we should replace first, if the receiver isn't soft, etc. I'd love to also see a long term test, but I think the shorter one has validity too. Kinda like if you are shopping for a new car, and watch the initial reviews, and take one for a test drive, rather than waiting to see how Motorweek's long term test ride pans out, or customer reviews.
Being how the M4 is kinda top dog, I always wondered why it wasn't in 3 gun more often. I don't think it's cost, as some guys sink a ton of money into lesser guns. I love my M2, but having a softer shooting, cheap knock around semi auto 12G would be cool too. Battlefield Las Vegas did an article, I think on ARFCOM, and the M4 was the ONLY shotgun to hold up. Pump or semi. The 500s and 870s failed, as well as other semis. And the 500 (590A1) passed the military's test. So, seeing what fails under pressure on the S4, could be a good indication on what to replace or address first in parts swapping.
I think the point of the test the TFB guy who wears short shorts does is that he puts 500 rounds through it all in one session to see if the accelerated firing schedule causes issues.3” magnums might be a but harder for me to get, i have 300 rounds through this gun so far, so shluld
I just do a mixture of birdshot, slugs and buck for
The last 200 rounds?
