Got my shipping confirmation - should be a fun weekend of seeing how it all fits together (gulp, I hope).

Did yours come all slicked up for a Turkish oil wrestling tournament too?

Haha yeah I wiped it down and I think took off some finish because it’s otherwise pretty clean. Haven’t fired it yet. So far so good!

Front sight post is a little crooked but i think it can be straightened out by adjusting the nut on the bottom

I went and talked to the guys at 1) SDS and 2) Panzer Arms while I was at SHOT.

The SDS rep was very enthusiastic about the S4, and told me there's an improved version coming that has a stock much more like the factory Benelli M4 stock. I actually don't think the factory Benelli M4 stock is all that great, but it's a good sign that they're continuing the line. He also told me that he knows SDS marketing sucks (or, really, is non-existent), and they're working on it. (I also told him he should be cutting me a check for selling like a dozen of these things.)

The Panzer Arms rep was quite a character. He knows about the piston heat treat issues (and makes sure not to have them), and they own the factory doing the assembly of them (there are apparently a lot of places in Turkey doing subcomponents assembly, which I think is common knowledge now). He seemed fairly convinced they had the best M4 clones on the market. Of course, it's easy to BS at SHOT, so I don't know if that's true or not, but he seemed quite emphatic about it.

I have to say the stock feels cheapish but it doesn’t feel too long. I have Michael Phelps arms though. I’m probably not going to replace the stock.

Ugh still no shipping notice for mine. It says "In process 1/12/2022" in my account but still blank for the carrier and "not available" for the tracking number. No idea what the delay is.

I don’t have that o-ring. Not sure if it’s missing or what. I don’t even see a nub to put it on

That looks different than the one I have.

The flared head on the firing pin retainer may have sheared off. It’s suppose to have that o-ring. Unless, it’s been modified by the manufacturer.

This might be a dumb questions, but did you have your FFL email them a picture of their signed FFL license? I forgot to do that for a couple days but they shipped the second it was done.

Nothing looks sheared off. I see two flush pins, the bottom is just slightly recessed

Sure did, he sent it right away and then I got the email on 1/12 saying the FFL info was processed for shipping/sent to the warehouse.

I think you have a sheared off firing pin retainer.
That part should look like this. And a roll pin would be better if they wanted to cut corners. But you’ll need a punch to disassemble the bolt group.

Try finding a benelli one first, just because benelli :)

Mine is exactly like that but I had no trouble blasting steel at 25 yards with it. I’ve considered straightening it out for OCD reasons but haven’t yet.

Looks like that’s a $6 part so I’ll just replace it regardless.

The SDS manual shows the pin with a head. I’d contact SDS but prolly less hassle to get one from MGW

You are probably right. Might want to disassemble the whole thing and look for a random retaining pin head hiding out in your FCG or something. What has me scratching my head on your example is that your headless pin appears to have been painted/coated/whatever. That would imply whoever put it together was cool with it the way it was. Maybe you got a Monday or a Friday production example.

So i just wanna say the first thing i suggest doing with these shotguns out of the box after cleaning is to remove the top rail and loctite the screws, this is best done with a gunsmith screwdriver set ao you dont tear up the screw head.
