Wondering if anyone has a recommended source for tamales this Christmas season. Having lived in the southwest it used to be a bit of a tradition. Quick searches of local Mexican restaurant websites and book of faces pages turned up nothing. Are these not a thing on the east coast?

Hoping I don't have another reason to dislike Maryland. Anything in Howard, Frederick, Carrol counties preferable, but I've got a hankering so I'll travel for good eats. Thanks!

Admittedly I'm from the Shore and raised by Baltimorians, but I've never heard of Christmas tamales.

R&r Taqueria is good food. But they dont have tamales on their menu. May want to call them though and ask

Thanks yes, I agree. I'm also a fan of 'Taco Bar'. These are the best I've found, but also none on the website menu.

You're right I may have to make some calls. Thanks again!

I too have never seen these in all my travels. Maybe they are illegal in the southwest lol. But, you have me curious.

Now I'll be searching for these AND legit tamales. Perhaps a good emergency prep too.

ETA: Amazon has these for same day shipping. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000OU5EFW/

Interesting note, they have a tamale maker, it loads up the masa on one side and the meat on the other and extrudes it out in one piece like the one in can. Like a sausage stuffer but for tamales

Plenty of these at the Ft Detrick commissary. I tend to stock up whenever I go. They're nothing like a made from scratch tamale... but up here they are far more abundant and they can scratch an itch when needed. Biggest problem with these is they've gotten so much smaller over the years. In the 60/70's they came eight to the can and were easily twice if not three times the size each. Now it's just six and they are about the diameter of my thumb. That's why willtill can eat two cans for one sitting.

Seems lots of stuff has shrunk over the years, except the price

Del Huerto Mexican Grill In Westminster is an awesome hole in the wall mom and pop shop. Food all around to die for. My wife is spanish and we make them at home. If you want to get a mexican fix, go to montgomery county. Gaithersburg or rockville. Amazing food all over.

I will definitely make it a note to try that next time I venture to Westminster thank you!!

I order mine from here, nothing like a tamale steamed in the corn husk. https://texaslonestartamales.com

OK now you have me drooling. I do believe this looks like a winner, plus I don't have to find my phone or drive anywhere. (Thank you big Brown truck drivers, LOL!) Now I'm left with option overload. So many yummy things to try this may take a couple years...

Oh no. They have a subscription service! https://texaslonestartamales.com/tamale-box/ I have a feeling I know what Santa is bringing this year... I hope I've been good.
