I remember something along the lines of these Mossberg Shockwaves being sold without a barrel (@ Scott's Gunsmithing maybe?), and then buy the barrel for a buck or something like that, a few years back?

Anyway, IF I own a Mossberg shotgun, with an 18.5" barrel, which (even without ANY stock) combined with the receiver would still be well over 26", can I legally install a "Bird Head" stock, like one of these pictured, and the shotgun still be classified as a LONG GUN? Basically, it would be a 4" or so, longer firearm, than an actual "Shockwave", but configured in the same style...

Just going to say, that is not a stock. If you get a pistol grip only shotgun, you can do this. But I'm basing this on memory.

We all know only about .005% of gun laws make any sense, but my thoughts were since it has a 18.5" barrel, and overall length passes today's laws, it "should" be ok....if not, I guess I'll find out.

Yes you may do as you indicate .

The " catch " is that since you started with a pre-existing Shotgun , you must have 18in plus bbl length , in addition to being > 26in OAL . In a pump or semiauto , not an issue due to action length .

The Good News is that in Md , it is not subject to the Transport regulations of 4-203 .

The reason a shockwave can have a 14” barrel is because it is pistol grip only and has never had a stock.

If your shotgun is not PGO, then an 18” barrel with shockwave or pistol grip is fine. Just don’t put a 14” barrel on it if it is not PGO from factory.

I have a 590A1 SBS with breach barrel. That barrel is a little longer than 14”. That barrel on a shockwave should give me more grip options (while maintaining 26.5” OAL) but I like the birds head grip.

    Awesome...That is the plan...
Barrel is 18.5" and that will not be altered. Overall length will be over 26" as well, even with the bird head grip. I want this to be my "truck gun"...

I may be wrong, but the actual "Shockwave" shotties, and their 14" barrels, are not legal to keep in your vehicle daily? No different than a handgun? Am I right?

This Choate Tool Corp folder stock for Mossberg 500/590 was up for 2 seconds this afternoon in the MDS classifieds.

Fits right in the ball & glove sports bag (glove pocket) ready to swap out with the Allen wrench that will travel with it.

71Chevelle427 asked earlier about the Velcro so here’s the set up. Ain't coming off unless you grab the tab and rip.

The barrel is 15.5 inches with a permanently welded 2.5 inch door breacher muzzle device that doubles as a “stand-off” weapon.
