The issues with the later 94's are that the trigger geometry was changed and they basically sucked. If it is a later one with the coil spring, it is impossible to get a crisp trigger pull.

As for the .44 mag version, the only issue, if you have short arms, is that the receiver is full size and there is more lever throw than a 1892 or Marlin 1894. The Winchester has a good twist for the .44 mag, 1 in 30 as far as I recall, and will shoot 300+ grain bullets. The Marlins have a 1 in 38 twist and the heaviest bullet I could get to work past 50 yards was 270 grains.

If you are not trigger fussy, buy it.

I just picked one up off United, the 1894 Centennial special edition. Its basically the same as the .45 and .357 I have both crossbolt safeties.

Its a decent quality gun Ive never noticed the trigger pull issue but I am not that sensitive to trigger pull and lever guns are generally pretty course as a bunch.

I think I was in $600 for a mint one that I cant find any evidence of having been fired. I thought it was a very fair price.

In a perfect world you want .357 followed by .45 but those command hefty premiums.

Are there feeding issues with the 1894 Winchesters IN PISTOL calibers? No problems with .30-30, .375 Win etc, but I heard of problems in pistol calibers. Is that true?

I know the 1892's feed well.

when are you going to start teaching / sharing your knowledge with us not so knowledgeable people :)

Enough people have posted videos to cover almost anything on the most popular guns. I am willing, and have been doing so, to answer specific questions for people. But, with a sick wife and two elderly inlaws, my gun time is severely limited. :sad20:

Some '92's will feed almost anything well but that is the exception to the rule. It all depends on the bullets that you plan to use. For some, especially the heavy ones with large meplat, you will have to adjust the rails. Just about all '92s need the elevator adjusted to feed bullets over 1.6 except for the bullets designed by Ranch Dog.

As for the 94's, I have found that they work well with a 250 gn or longer bullet. If you try to use them with the 180's or 200gn bullets you may have to adjust the guide rails.

FYI, when I say adjusting the guide rails, that means filing and stoning the front edge angles to accommodate a specific round. It is possible that when you adjust them, they will only feed that particular bullet reliability so you don't want to do this willy nilly. :D

I'd get it if you're interested in it.

I have the Rossi 92 in 44 Mag. No problems with feeding and has hardly any recoil.

Wish I could find a Winchester in 44 Mag.
