I do a little small bore shooting in the back yard but want to do a little high
power stuff.

For high power practice, the Hap Baker Firearms Facility near Westminster.
10 positions, 25/50/100/200 yards. Positions 5 & 6 you can shoot prone at 100 and 200 yards.
Public, County owned, daily and annual fees. Discount for Carroll County residents.

I'll have to check Hap Baker out. I have heard there is a range north of Taneytown that is private but haven't found anything.

I believe you're correct about a private range around Taneytown. A year or so ago i was in contact with a lady near Taneytown who said she lived beside a range owned by a private organization
