Try Midsouth Shooters Supply. I just got 4 "sample" packs to try since I am just getting into reloading and did not want to buy too much of something.

Here is a link to one of their .308 sample packs: https://www.midsouthshooterssupply....-tail-hollow-point-shot-group-sample-20-count

Here is a link to one of their .223/.224 sample packs: https://www.midsouthshooterssupply....grain-premium-shot-group-sample-pack-30-count

Midsouth has great customer service and good prices. :party29:

Just for reference. I had a Remington 700 308 Sporter that shot terrible groups. I finally decided to see what it could do. This rifle shot 2 moa consistently. I switched out the stock to a HS precision. Swapped the scope from 4x to 12x. Gun now shoots sub 1/2 moa with FGMM and regularly sub 1 moa with handloads. You can't make a 2 moa gun shoot 1 moa just with handloads. Rarely are the bullets to blame for poor performance.

    ^^^This^^^

Ammo is only one third of the equation.

You didn't state what action type are your .308 and ..30-06 . If bolt action ( and not already shooting moa as is) , the two simple automatic things are bedding and the crown.

Unless it is already at least pillar bedded from the factory, give it a glass bedding to your preferences. Default is bed the action and first cpl inches of bbl, with the rest freefloated.

Carefully inspect the crown. Any inconsistencies, out of round, or hint of damage,
    Imeadately recrown.

Have shooter of known ability shoot your rifles with FGMM or equivalents, from bench ( or prone w/ sling if they're proficent). You now have a baseline for your rifles. If this meets or is reasonably close to your goals, great ! Now start working on your marksmanship and basic handloading skills.

Jesus, you guys are awesome. You have given me a lot of things that I haven't thought of, given me many things to think about. I am now rethinking the way I currently test loads and seeing where I can change things and get better.

Bigfoot, both are bolt action rifles, the 30-06 is bedded and free floated. The .308 is not bedded. The crown of both are in great shape, luckily, that is one thing I look at religiously. I may need to find a shooter who can test the limits of the rifle to give me that baseline.

    Just too many variables.

Or just duplicate Federal Gold Medal Match. :)

He's going to be in 150-180gr range, either of the most common .30cal twist rates will be fine.

Yes, but that limits the high end. Any common twist rate will shoot 55 grain and under fine. And most will be fine with 62 grain. When you get above that you really need the fast twists.

And basically, if you are looking at best accuracy, in an accurate rifle, pick the match bullet in the appropriate weight. And pick heavier for longer range.

Going to try and work up some better loads 3 rifles. I want to do this for my AR, my .308, and my 30-06. I am looking for bullet sample packs where there may be 2 or 3 different bullet weights in a pack. Anybody got any ideas as to where to get them? My internet search has been all over the place with price so I am turning here for a little advise.

    Thanks guys and gals.

Precision reloading has what you want, also samples in various calibers.
    Good luck
