I'm interested in building an AR pistol and eventually converting it to an SBR (once I get the tax stamp back).

Does barrel contour matter? I know OAL needs to be > than 29'', but there is no requirement for a heavy barrel on a pistol...correct?

Also, does anyone have a FFL in Baltimore County they'd recommend for the transfer of a stripped lower?

    Thx in advance.

There is no official MSP guidance on barrel contour for SBRs.
That said SBR's are now treated legally as pistols in MD so at this point its personal choice and comfort level.

Blue Fins in Dundalk is good and FreeState is running a sale on Adcor stripped lowers (made in MD)

As far as I know, AR Pistols in MD aren't governed by much of any rules beyond ATF ones. SBRs, as you know, need to be at least 29" OAL fully extended. I would personally go for an HBAR if I was building everything myself.

As for FFLs, I'm using Arimus Tactical/Tyler's Firearms for the transfer of CZ P-01. $40 if you're a MDS member, I think. Not likely to find cheaper.
