Found this in a flip house a friend of mine bought. Plugged it in and it worked so I grabbed it.

Appears to be a rig for cutting down the length of arrow shafts. I also found 30 or so aluminum arrows in various states of assembly. I guess the guy made his own arrows.

Is something like this used any more? Does it have any value? I've got no need for it but I hate to see things hit the dumpster. I know nothing about archery.

Yes it does have value, a lot of Traditional archers still build their own arrows. Most guys shoot carbon arrows these days. I'll give you $20 for all.

    Yes.

People who build their own arrows and people like me who buy uncut fletched arrows and cut them to size, add ferrules.

Are arrows cut to specific lengths to match the draw of a particular bow?

Yes, first they have to match your draw length then you can fine tune them to the bows poundage. I leave them a couple inches long then bare shaft test them. Cutting them back a little each time until they fly straight.

More like the draw of the archer with the particular bow. Although you may add some for the use of broadheads vs target points.

I have the exact same setup and it works very well, assuming the cutoff blade is still sharp. I also still prefer aluminum, so I'll take aluminum shafts no one wants -- even bent ones since I straighten them too.
