Odd that one isn't right on the end of the barrel to get the max sight radius. or is that actually normal?

I believe they clamp on so that's the furthest out they will attach.

Whew, I'm glad you are buying it. You may not know it yet but you are. Otherwise I would've been down there. I really like that and the Bisley which I know I'd have bought as well. That's a grand I don't need to spend since I'm still paying off a bigly purchase at another dealer.

You are correct, they need the vent rib to clamp on, that is the furthest one out.
