The grip safety on an almost new 1911 was loose and non-functional. When I did some trouble shooting I discovered that the sear spring tine providing the tension for the grip safety was almost flat. It was an easy fix to bend it back to the proper shape, but how could it have been flattened after fewer than 100 rounds?

I had a 1911 double on my at a match. I stripped it, bent the sear spring a bit, and it stopped doubling, and hasn't had a problem since.

A pull gaige and a sound technique woukd go a long wat toward achieving a sound pull weight. Won’t improve the pull quality but will get in a known safe pull weight.

I only wanted to make the grip safety functional. I stayed away from the sear and disconnect tines.
