In an effort to keep registered lurkers with less than honorable motives from exploiting the Water Cooler, I've established a new software controlled access policy. A very small minority of you may find yourself blocked even though you previously had access. I apologize in advance, but I can assure you that if you participate in other threads you will gain access very quickly. It is an automated process.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we try to make this a better place for everyone (well, those on OUR side at least...).

 great move..it will cut down on those who join just to gather info and will be interesting to say the least. The Water Cooler being private and with addition of another topic being merge within it, eliminates some of the problems of being viewed openly.
there is another thing that will need to be monitored....
    surf n lurk......

I like the idea, but will have to withhold my judgment until I see how it works in practice. But I don't think there's anyone here who doesn't agree that the water cooler is totally glutted.

    What happened?

OK. I presume that the reason I can no longer see "The Water Cooler" listed for access is because I don't post much or very recently. :innocent0

Unfortunately, my attitude is that if I don't have anything new or useful to contribute to a discussion I won't say it in print or on the air. :envy:

Apparently with this new policy, I need to contribute useless drivel or be considered just a lurker, not a contributer. :mad54:

    So there! Take that!

Now can I play again?

I like it too...hey it could be worse. I'm a member of a woodworkers forum that won't let you post in classifieds and a similar area like the water cooler unless you are a PAYING member.
Contribute and be part of the conversation..

    This is a GOOD move.

Especially from the threads of late going a little askew. Quite a bit of potential anti-fodder lately. Glad to see the new rule, but to be quite honest, I wish it wouldn't have had to come to this. I, myself have been sucked into some real crap talk recently and am trying to back off for the sake of decency and not being a part of the problem.

Sometimes it's sooo hard not to jump in the fray.:o

No more Water Cooler for me. :(

In all honesty, you're not missing much.

This being a firearms forum, most people come here to enjoy discussion of such.

The WC forum is just full of other off topic stuff which can be found on thousands of other websites.

Heck even Craigslist has stuff like that.

Yes, we regret that it will negatively affect a few people.

Are we Socialists now because we think it's for the "greater good" of the forum?

I do agree with the new policy. No harm no foul. I've been a member here for going on 2 years and I'm a regular contributor. I post in the water cooler section frequently. I think the reason it gets so much traffic is because that's where the issues that are debatable between the group. I'm just happy I didn't get the ban hammer since I have participated in some of the more "extreme" threads, but I always try to be civil. I don't think I have been the cause of any thread locks/deletes. :o
