Howard County did a presentation hosted at Grace Church for local places of worship as well as businesses and places where people gather. Here is the video of the event they even mentioned last nights active shooter.

    https://youtu.be/pYKmgRrWmfQ

Interestingly the police state that their response is good at 3 minutes but then later reveal almost 50% of active shooter events are over in 2 minutes...most victims are dead in the first 2-3 minutes.

They go on to say basically "you are on your own" and you should

    Run/Hide/Fight.

Fighting involves hammers and blunt objects...Door stops are the big revealing tip..THANKS!

When they get to the FIGHT part the officer describes your natural self defense instincts...but neglects giving YOU the force to do so.

And one of my favorite quotes when it comes to a text alert system "You want sumthing like that" ...and also making sure you have non perishable snacks in your safe room.

Keep "snacks in your safe room" but the event is usually over in two minutes? Ok, great stuff.

    Non perishable...LOL....

They did address concealed carry when it came to members of the staff/group that had prior LEO or Military background. And talked about how to identify them for the police response. Very limited talk about that..assumption in MD that nobody could defend their own self!
