Exclamation Certifying police officers

"In response to federal legislation, the Howard County police department will begin certifying retired officers to carry concealed weapons."

"Until July 2004, it was unlawful for retired Maryland officers to carry a gun."

"But last year the U.S. Congress approved the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act, which enables off-duty and retired police to carry concealed weapons in Maryland and across state lines, provided those weapons are certified by a police agency."

Residents must keep tabs on which county police departments "gleefully" certify (CCW) their retired officers and hammer them if they don't support the civilian right to do so!
