Reminder:

Effectively immediately, all for sale ads are required to have a price visible in the price column.

We're done with the E-Bay style "bid" ads.

When creating your ad, use only numbers in the price field. Do not add the dollar sign or the price field will be left blank.

The exception is for multiple items placed within the same ad. For these ads, prices must be clearly stated within the ad.

Please also post your location or where you are willing to meet within the ad so that members can weigh in the costs of travel into whether they want to purchase your item.

We allowed some latitude in recent months due to the disturbances in the market created by the election and December 14. We feel that it is now time to go back to the previous policy of requiring prices.

The staff reserves the right to close ads without notification.

This is effective for all ads and ad renewals placed from March 17, 2013 forward.

UPDATE

Effective October 1, we will no longer be allowing ads for anything that will be banned by SB281. This includes magazines in excess of 10 rounds as well as SCAW (so-called-assault-weapons) that are banned by 281.

The presumption is that items listed here are intended for sale in Maryland. Thus, MDShooters.com cannot be a party to the sale of anything that may be illegal under Maryland law.

The new maximum for magazines being offered for sale in the classifieds is 10 rounds.

Sorry, we don't like it either, but that's the way it has to be.

You can remove your ads on October 1 or we can.

Bump for reminder:
Quote:
Ads with magazines that are not MD compliant will be locked.

No more than 5 open ads permitted.

All ads must run for the full three weeks with no bumping.
There will be no notification before the ads are locked. The staff doesn't have time to remind people of things that they can plainly read for themselves.

Reminder:

Quote:
Please be advised that it is the policy of the board that we will follow all applicable laws. Sometimes that requires us to interpret things which may not be crystal clear and as such we will always err on the side of protecting the board and DD214 from any unnecessary legal vulnerabilities.

All that is the long way around to reminding everyone that it is MDS policy that it is not permitted to advertise magazine with a 10+ round capacity in our classifieds. Even if you offer to meet across state lines for a legal transfer, we can't have the offer of sale occurring on the board. MD law prohibits sale, transfer or offer for sale and we're going to make sure we adhere to the letter and spirit.
Your ads will be deleted without prior notice if you advertise magazines that are not Maryland compliant.

Must be time to bump this again since people are not following the rules:

A couple of things that have shown up over the last couple of days that bear repeating.

1. Only Maryland compliant magazines are allowed for sale in the classifieds. Ads will be deleted without notice if they contain non-compliant magazines. This is non-negotiable.

2. There is a maximum of 5 open ads per user allowed. Any ads above 5 will be deleted without notice.

Carry on..

Effective immediately, please put your location in your ad. It makes it a lot easier for people to decide if they are interested in your item at the advertised price if they know how far they have to go to get it.

For now this is a request. It will soon become policy.

A few simple reminders:

1. No magazines in excess of 10 rounds are allowed in an ad here even with the "usual disclaimers". We don't like the law either, but aren't willing to be the test case to find out what the extent of the law really is when it comes to "for sale in Maryland".

2. You are limited to 5 active ads. If you have more than that to sell, wait until one item sells and then post the new item.

3. You must wait 3 weeks before bumping your ad.

All - we cannot make it any more clear.

If your ad makes any mention of magazines with a capacity in excess of 10 rounds, it will be removed.

We may not like the law, but it says what it says in that you may not offer for sale any magazines in excess of 10 rounds.

Please do not put us in the position of removing your ad.
