Funny, if CZ made a target rimfire pistol somewhere in between the cost of the Ruger Mark IV series and the S&W Model 41 (but closer to the former), I'd be all over it. There are many CZ fans in the rimfire rifle world that might also take the plunge. Walther has an appealing option in this market space (the Walther PPQ 22, not the Walther P22 - similar naming has led people to believe they are the same product - and the P22 has an inconsistent review record), but frequently the best deals come with 12-rd mags (even though they sell with a 10-rd mag option) so I keep deferring waiting for similar sales with the 10-rd mags because I don't want to lose the mags in a purchase. Lol, will probably eventually come on CDNN, which won't even sell 5-rd revolvers to MD residents.

As per the slide change option, would be great if CZ did this for the Shadow, much like Sig also provides as a purchase option for their centerfire semi-automatic pistols. One could argue, why, because you can get 9mm at 17-18 cpr these days, but 22LR is still a quarter of the cost to shoot as decent ammo can be found in the 4-5 cpr range. So if one shoots a lot, the math might favor the 22LR option as long as the hardware change isn't crazy expensive.

I'm sure I'm not the only CZ fanboy who wishes they would expand manufacturing beyond Uhersky Brod and build specific firearms for their biggest markets. I also think CZ would do well to build a modestly-priced .22 target pistol to fill the gap in their product lineup but, it's like they're not exactly sure what they want to do yet: become a global player or maintain strict quality control in their main facility and accept the fact that they'll never fully meet consumer demand. God forbid they end up being another Sig Sauer, whoring-out their good name/reputation to make a quick-buck on shit that should never have left the factory in the first place.

    Range Report

Naturally, I was curious to see if there was any discernable difference between the Urban Gray Shadow 2 and the Black/Blue Shadow 2 and my conclusion: they're ain't.

10 yards, 25 rounds, CCI Blazer Brass 124gr FMJ

Not much difference at all at 10 yards with either brands of ammo. What about 25 yards? The furthest distance I've shot the Shadow 2 up to today was 15 yards.

    25 yards, 30 rounds, Geco 124gr FMJ

Yeah, so at 25 yards I really had no idea of sight picture/alignment and just went for it before figuring-out that six o'clock was the best hold on the last magazine. Considering that Geco really isn't the Shadow 2's favorite factory load, I thought it did OK. I'm eager to see what it can do with some S&B 124gr FMJ.

    Shooting too fast. LOL

Yes. Yes I was. I had no idea where to sight at 25 yards and since it's so dark in there, I wasn't getting any help from the FO front sight. Just went for it. I was surprised/happy to land 19 out of 30 in the red.

25 yards is no different than if the target was at 10. You're in front of the target, right? So, if I made you press out and aim on a target at 5 yards away, then I moved it out to 25, you'd change up? Why?
Modern ammo, that's basically zero drop out to 25. Especially if this isn't some bullseye contest. That bullet travels just as straight to 25 as it does to 5.
The only variable is the shooter. Our eyes and brains have a conflict. We see a longer distance so our brains think something is awry, so it wants to make a correction. When all along physics prove our thoughts wrong.

I know, it's a very bad habit I have the first couple of times I shoot a new handgun and I'm not entirely familiar with the sights. I want to overcompensate.

I sometimes have depth perception issues wearing glasses and trying to focus on the front sight blade while lining-up the target. I think this is a mistake I'm making unconsciously.

Yes, this particular shooter is known to have frequent lapses of visual and mental acuity when he's got a cool new toy at the range for the first time. I'd like to see you try to get thru an entire box of ammo without wanting to shoot a Shadow 2 too fast a coupla times. ;)

I’ve been contemplating buying a USA CZ 75, but I can’t really justify the price when I could get two more glocks for the price of the CZ. Anyone have any experience with them and care to share their opinion?

What is a USA CZ 75? Do you have a specific model #?

The average CZ-75B or 75BD (depending if you like a thumb safety vs. decocker) can be had for anywhere between $550-600 at most of our Industry Partners. If you can get two Glocks for that price, I'd say go with the two Glocks. That's a helluva deal.

I’ve been looking at a CZ 75 B. Granted this isn’t in MD, but there were some shops in my previous state that offered a very generous discount for LE/Military on all glocks.

I’m just looking for some more variety at this point.

Glock vs CZ75 doesn't seem to be a simple comparison.

I over think this stuff a lot. I say I want some variety and to stray away from some Glocks for a while, but then I see the 19x and I’m like “That’s variety... right?”

I'm not even sure what you're asking.

In that one, nothing. It’s my internal dialogue of the struggle I go through each time I want a different handgun than a Glock, but inevitably always look back at the Glocks.

The question was jn the earlier post, asking about the opinions and thoughts of the CZ75B

I’m drawn to the CZ75B as well. It’s a quality firearm and reliable. Then again, I like a metal, hammer-fired handgun as opposed to a polymer striker-fired gun.

I’ve hardly ever heard a bad word about CZ, which is another reason I’m interested.
