Interesting piece for sale here. This is a Mauser 66S, made in Germany. It was then sold to Israel where it probably entered service in the IDF as a sniper rifle. It has the Star Of David stamped on the side of the receiver. It also has the IDF correct Nimrod scope. Fully adjustable stock & comb, muzzle brake, and the smoothest action I have seen. Chambered in 308. Less than 100 were imported into the US.

    $4000

Is this chambered in .308 or 7.62 NATO? A friend of mine in the IDF sent me this interesting tidbit:

Double check if it chambered in .308 or 7.62 NATO. If it is .308, then it is a rare one that probably belonged to an elite special forces unit (or was rechambered afterwards). Most Israeli sniper rifles at the time used 7.62 since it could use in an emergency ammo from the FN FAL which was the standard rifle at then.

the example of the 66s mauser that i shot was not Israeli property marked as far as i noticed, but God they are awesome rifles. a dream to shoot. the action is a strange one, but slicker than snail snot. stocks fully adjustable. if building a .308 to shoot for enjoyment, you can't get much better than this. It is almost a shame they are so collectible.....keeps people from shooting them enough. I ran 100 rounds through one (wearing a hensoldt 10x kraut military scope) and it was over WAY too fast.

If anyone has the loot, this rifle would make a wonderful addition to the family......

I handled this rifle briefly when I was doing the paperwork for a transfer today (on a Kareen, fittingly enough). The pictures don't really do it justice - the ergonomics on the gun are just stunning. Easily one of the most comfortable rifles I've ever shouldered, and the bolt slides like it was greased lightning.

If I shot .308, I would have seriously given thought to buying it. Hell, I was thinking about it anyways!

Oh why oh why can't my wife hurry up and find a job already... :( That is a thing of beauty that would look amazing on the shooting bench. I never sell my guns but maybe I can sell the wife! haha
