Looking for a gunsmith that will inspect a CMP Garand and assure it's in good shooting condition and even make reccommendations on any parts needing refresh due to wear. I don;t feel liek shipping it so I am trying face to face/local first but also interested in any reccommendations for online specialists.

I took my M1 to Charlie Maloney. Heck of a nice guy. He explained everything to me, and how much additional work would cost. He showed me how to disassemble, clean, where to oil, where to grease. He sanded my stock a bit because the op rod was rubbing, and he did a trigger job. He let me watch and he made it look so effortless, I thought I could do everything he could. Like, when you watch Food Network, then think you are Iron Chef, only to find your wife gagging on your Skittles and Reeses Peices 4 cheese quiche. So, basically I can't do what he can, but he made it look so easy. That's what the masters do. My M1 has a great trigger, and works very well now.

    ****VERY IMPORTANT NOTE******

When you put his address into your GPS or Google Maps, make sure it selects the Catonsville address. There is an identical address in the real ghetto, Baltimore. You will end up at an abandoned rowhome. Don't ask me how I know. At least I had an M1 with me though.
