The political left and their media lap dogs constantly beat the anti gun drums in order to further their agenda and to provide a shinny object to distract the sheeple from bigger issues. With the latest shooting by another deranged individual the rhetoric about gun deaths will again be trumpeted by the MSM. And predictably they will blame guns.

A comment on the news lead me to look up the background information which is just one issue of many that are far more significant if you really were concerned about peoples lives. So every time you see a story about too many gun deaths (2017 Murder Victims Total Firearms = 10,982; https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u....017/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-8.xls ) consider these numbers "Seasonal Influenza-Associated Deaths in the United States reach 80,000 people", eight times more likely to die from the flu than be murdered by a gun.

If the MSM cared about peoples lives they would put their editorial emphasis in places that would make a difference (2016 data).

    Heart disease: 635,260
    Cancer: 598,038
    Accidents (unintentional injuries): 161,374
    Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 154,596
    Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 142,142
    Alzheimer’s disease: 116,103
    Diabetes: 80,058
    Influenza and pneumonia: 51,537
Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 50,046
    Intentional self-harm (suicide): 44,965

80,000 people die every year in hospitals from something other than the reason that put them there. 1200 people die every day from smoking related diease. Guns aren't the problem, smokes and doctors are!! We should ban them or at least require a waiting period. Comment sense laws.......

This data has been used for years to convince the Liberal mind of their misguided thought process. They'll have none of it.

"We can't do much about disease, but if we only enact a few, moderate, common-sense reforms, we can eliminate gun deaths entirely! The NRA and President Trump are the only things standing in the way of preventing a million gun deaths a year!"

"If the media spent half as much time educating and encouraging people to get flu vaccinations as it wastes trying to remove a civil right guaranteed by the constitution it would save more lives than are murdered by firearms."
