General consensus I always heard was they teach outdated stuff and you have to suffer through a fair amount of their scientology-like sales pitches in between different segments of instruction.

If I wanted to do a tactical fantasy band camp thing out there, I'd go to Gunsite, not Front Sight.

Training is "tactical fantasy band camp" now?

    Learn something every day.

At Front Site it is. Take some time and read reviews of their classes. They are a Mall Ninja's wet dream...

I put them on par with Select Fire and their tactical Hoggies.

I don't take issue with calling out pyramid scheme training companies or places like S.F.

The original post I quoted, read to me like it applied to Gunsite as well as Frontsite.

It's a pretty popular thing for people in the gun community to take digs at those who train or take training as wanna-be's of some fashion.

Does anyone on this forum take more classes on his own dime (i.e., not on the government's dime) than I do? There might be a handful, but not many. I'm NOT taking "digs" at training.

Perhaps I didn't word it all the best. Most people I know who have trained at Gunsite have a lot of good things to say about it, and from the specifics of what they write it seems pretty good overall. For many, though, it seems to fit into that "bucket list" type of a class, and in that sense ends up being borderline fantasy (not in topics covered, but in "wow, I can't believe I'm at Gunsite, land of Jeff Cooper" territory). FrontSight, on the other hand, is a total joke. I'm just wary of any class that takes you from "this is the end of the gun the bullet comes out of" to room-clearing at the end of five days. This is why FrontSight, some Tactical Response classes, etc., fall into that category for me. Gunsite less-so. So yes, I worded that poorly.

Thanks for the feedback. Wont even think twice about not using the voucher now if I end up getting the Fort Knox safe.

I took a Front Sight course a long time ago. It's not on the same level as Gunsight... But I wouldn't call it a total joke. Training was professional and more on the basic side than advanced. It was cheap, fun, and I had a decent time. They do try and get you to buy into their planned gun community... It's like going to a time share seminar to get Disney tickets. I've been fairly well trained (former LEO and SWAT prior to that) and don't think it's a bad idea if it's easy to go. Their marketing is cheesey, and they look pretty silly from the outside, but I felt the training itself as pretty professional.
