I've tried to find out what the FXP stands for by doing searches with no luck.
Someone posted Savage code link, which no longer works, at least, the link provided did not.
Moreover, I saw a blued new rifle for $395.00 (not scoped). Is this a good price?
Many people seem to like the Savage .308.
    Thanks for any help.

I think, if memory serves me correctly, that the X means package. I think it would come with a cheap 3-9x40 scope

From i have seen the fxp does stand for package deal...

As for a savage gun...i just got a model 112 300 rum..no info on how it shoots yet..waiting to handoad..

I think savage puts the work into the action and barrel..not the stock..as you might have heard the are often called rubbermaid stocks..they are ugly and cheap feeling. They try and give you a better quality and skip a nice stock to save money from what i see on lots of them..not all of course..

I have seen lots of savage shoot great...many of the 270 model 110 ( i think) shoot tight groups with factory ammo out of the box.

Seems like a good deal but remember you will need some good glass, and that is what will cost you some dough..more then the gun

If you are going to go the Savage .308 route, I'd personally get the 10FP. That way you get the heavy barrel. The stocks can be changed out easily.

I finally came across the code: F = synthetic stock; XP = package gun

However, the one I saw didn't have a scope on it, if I remember correctly.
What say ye about the price, that is, $397.00 plus tax? Is that a good price without a scope included?

Thanks guys for the comments. Keep em coming.

Probably par for the course with accutrigger and scope. If it is the non accutrigger it is still high I see these regularly at the funshow for $360.

How much of a rush are you in to get your rifle?

    Have you shot one yet?
Do you have an overall budget in mind?
What is your intended use of said rifle?
Are you going to the Frostbite Shoot?.....It might be a bit of a drive, but you would have the opportunity to shoot multiple rifles in all price ranges.
