I guess I never posted the roughly same sized pike I caught last year...oh well. Wife caught a nice one last year. We went out today and she started catching perch and bullhead catfish right off the get go. Then she caught a big 31" 7lb 10oz pike it was full of eggs/row. And not 10 minutes later I caught myself a pike smaller, 26" 4lbs 7oz... all in all a good day.:D First one is mine second is my wifes.

You mentioned the roe, and I wondered if that was edible. Looks like it's caviar-equivalent, and you brine it then spread it on a cracker.

    Never done that. Did you?

That first fish looked more like a musky to me. Vertical bars and red fins.

I was really confused when I saw a post about Northern Pike. Then I realized this is in Idaho. I'm going to fish in northern Wisconsin this summer and hope to catch my first.

Just about any roe is a good addition to soup.
