    I'm concerned that our Doughboys will waste ammunition.

    It would be prudent to go back to the "trapdoor" Springfield. Not only is it a superior vehicle for mounting of the bayonet, but the prominent hammer allows non-commissioned officers to more easily supervise the men under their command, ensuring that they may only ready their pieces when directed to do so.

    Isaac McCaskill shot the vintage match at Butner with a Trapdoor springfield.

    Let me tell you, those big bullets can tear a target up. Very difficult to get the shot spotters to stay in.

    It was the first time he got all 10 shots off in Rapid. The grin was so big you had to clear a path three men wide to pass him on the way to the pits at relay change.
