I've got two lowers on the way from Spikes. One is for a 5.56 build. The other will be hosting my first SBR. I've been reading a lot about .300 Blackout and it seems like an interesting choice. However, I would be using supersonic ammo (i.e. won't be run suppressed). Is there another round I should be considering with advantages in a SBR over 5.56? I really like retaining use of mags, bolt etc. but with strictly supersonic loads is this the way to go?

All the talk of suppressors intertwined with .300 Blackout talk tends to muddy up the waters for me.

This would be for 100 yds or less. Maybe out a little beyond that, but not much farther, and rarely.

    No opinions on this?

I've read that .300 BLK out of a 9" BBL has the same energy as 62 gr 5.56 out of a 16" BBL. That's the upside I see, but nobody is talking about this ammo without plans of using a suppressed rifle. The downside is obviously the availability of ammo at this point. Any more to consider?

Is this not worth discussion? Not entertained? :D

I can't think of any better options if you reload. Same mags and bolt plus there should be no feeding issues like 7.62x39.

If you got brass shouldnt be a big deal, I have been tossing it back and forth myself but am going with a 7.62*39 build first.

Cheap but high quality with OTM bullet UMC will be out later this year.

125 grain Premiere Match will be out in Aug.
125 grain Premiere AccuTip in July or Aug.
Hornady 110 grain Whisper(R) is compatible with it. Midway has it now.

All supersonic. None need a can.
