I'm looking to see if there would be any interest in a weekday Project Appleseed event at Berwyn Rod and Gun Club in Bowie, MD. This would be a one-day event on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, during the PG County School's Spring Break.

Centerfire rifles would be permitted at this event. A semi-automatic rifle with a detachable magazine is recommended. If you don't have one, just let us know beforehand and we'll be glad to set you up with a loaner rimfire rifle to use for the event.

Project Appleseed's heritage program vividly portrays the Battles of Lexington and Concord with the kind of care and immediacy that is absent from most formal schooling. Modern listeners are confronted with the danger, the fear, and the heartbreaking separations that arose out of the choices made on April 19th, 1775. They are also reminded of the marksmanship skills and masterful organization that ultimately helped set the colonists on the path to success. Those who attend gain a better understanding of the fundamental choices faced by our ancestors as they began to set the stage for the nation we now enjoy.

The Project Appleseed rifle marksmanship program complements that history and heritage. The focus is on teaching the traditional American marksmanship skills for three-position shooting. There are, however, several aspects of the marksmanship program that deserve special mention. Project Appleseed is particularly proud of their younger attendees. In accordance with applicable local laws, young people with sufficient maturity are welcome to the Appleseed line and can, with parental permission, join the cadre. The RWVA recognizes the importance of introducing a wide cross section of Americans to their marksmanship heritage.

I'm hoping to move forward on this over the coming week. If you are interested in such an event, please let me know either by responding to the thread in the Capitol Region forum or by emailing me at PublicEvents@berwyn.org.

    Thanks,
    Mike.

One-Day event at BRGC 4APR18 - Bowie, MD!?

    Mike,
If Berwyn Rod & Gun Club (BRGC) is willing to schedule a Project Appleseed One-day event on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, that's great!

I respectfully submit, with Board's blessing - do it! We will then promote it, and make it happen. I can SB if no others are available.

The Virginia folks successfully do weekday shoots at the NRA Range...

Thanks Mike, you're a great American!

Feb 17th One-Day Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic - Winterseed!

Thirteen great Americans got up off the couch and came out to have some fun at the Anne Arundel Fish and Game (AAFG) Conservation Association in Annapolis, MD, for a 1-Day Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic.

The group was comprised of some experienced Appleseeders (Ray, Jim, Gabriel, and Gunnar), and nine first-timers (Mostly Active-duty Marines! Ooh-rah!), braving the (very) cold day. After the introductions, and safety brief, we started shooting the first Redcoat target, and results were pretty good! Next, we told them the real reason they were there - to hear the story of April 19th, 1775, and to try and understand the decisions our forefathers were faced with... beginning with the telling of the "First Strike" of the match. Then onto Prone Steady-Hold Factors (SHF) and putting sighters on the Squares target, the entire group was quickly grouping well. After some more history at lunch (Second Strike), we got back to marksmanship training . This being a One-day event, it was time to move right into Standing and Seated/Kneeling SHF, transitions, and we then moved into our first practice Appleseed Qualification Test (AQT)... and it started snowing!
The Winterseed patch was in play!

Gunnar N. re-qualified with a 232, and repeat Appleseeder (but still seeking a Rifleman's patch) Jim T. put up a 213. After the practice AQT, we found time to get two more AQTs in. Gunnar N. backed up his score with an impressive 242! Great score. Jim T. backed up his with a 210, First time Appleseeders Mark A. and Floyd D. scored a 212 and 211 respectively.

So three new Riflemen and one re-qual!
They also get the much-coveted Winterseed patch! After the telling of the Third Strike and wrapping up the history, we then did our last Redcoat of the day (Mark cleaned his Redcoat!), framed the weekend, and cleaned up.

For those that didn't earn a Rifleman score yet:
    A Rifleman Persists!

Thank you very much to our host range, the Anne Arundel Fish and Game (AAFG) Conservation Association.
And last but not least, many thanks to my fellow instructors ABCgarand and Aninha. Our Instructor's hard work, and professional demeanor made this a safe and fun shoot.

Signed up for the 4th in Bowie and 14th in Annapolis. Really looking forward to both. Hopefully we will be out of Winterseed weather.

    Which wall to man?

    Ziptiespec,
Thank you for attending the event in Annapolis. It is a difficult call; we can't man all four walls at the same time...

I am going to be the Shoot Boss (SB) for the event at AAFG 14/15 April, filling in for one of my fiends who is also going to the event at the Capitol.

I hope to see you at another Appleseed event soon!

    :patriot:

I signed up for the Annapolis 14-15 event but may have to cancel my attendance. I'm e-mailing the contacts listed for the event on the Appleseed site. There's another event that I feel is more important to attend: https://thenccpa.com/2018/03/18/americans-for-america-rally/

Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship One-day Clinic at Berwyn Rod & Gun Club (BRGC),

    Take a day off work!
The kids are on Spring Break, right? :party29:

There's still a few spots open on the line at the Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship One-day Clinic at Berwyn Rod & Gun Club (BRGC), in Bowie, MD, on Wednesday, April 4th.

This is a Rimfire and Centerfire event, and the range is covered, so no matter what the weather forecast looks like - we'll be fine!

Come on out and join the fun!

    Week-day One-day Appleseed - 04APR18

Five great Americans (skipped work?) to attend a "Week-day One-Day" Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic at the Berwyn Rod & Gun Club (BRGC) in Bowie, MD, on Wednesday April 4th.

Jim T. requalified with a 234 (Iron sights). Great job Jim! Several other shooters were close!
It was a challenging day, very windy, with lots of debris being blown around, and a lot of it winding up collecting in the actions of the rifles. I'm pleasantly surprised we didn't have many malfunctions. Great job on everyone's part, as the attitudes were great & teachable, and everyone had fun.

Also, congratulations to PB4Y1 (Chuck), who completed his Instructor In-Training (IIT) and earned his Red hat! Huzzah!

Are there any events planned for Sudlersville this year? Those are always fun events, and I'm hoping to get out again this year, if possible.
