I sold a pistol and the buyer filled out the 77R form.

Now, before we go to the MSP barrack to file the 77R, does he need to wait for an email from them with a number(s) to be added to the form?

This process is new to both of us.

    Thanks for your help.

google is your friend, I am not.
The buyer will get a "not disapproved" email at the end of the waiting period, 6am. Do not do the transfer before that email.

Or, maybe I am confused, the buyer filled out the 77r and put in the "pool" but you have not been to the barracks to submit it and pay 10$? as soon as the buyer gets the PIN in the email you can go to barracks to submit the 77r. then after 7 days, go back with ND email in hand.

The buyer now has a PIN number from the MSP.

Are we good to go now to meet up at the MSP barrack?

Yes, go to the barracks and he will give them the PIN, then they can find it in the system, then they do their part. They will send the buyer an Email when he can receive the pistol.

Once the initial transaction is submitted at the MSP barracks you don’t have to go back there to do the actual transfer, it can be done anywhere. This is of course after the 7 day waiting period and a “not disapproved” email from MSP

Latest answers are correct for a "Secondary Sale" using a local MSP Barrack. When the buyer has filled out the 77R and receives a PIN, the assisting official at the barrack will gladly answer any questions.

    Please note the following:

Secondary Sales conducted at a Maryland State Police Barrack require a $10 check or money order made out to the Maryland State Police.

Buyer and Seller should bring a Government Issued ID and their HQL (Seller does not need).

DO NOT BRING ANY FIREARMS INTO MSP BARRACKS. LEAVE UNLOADED FIREARMS CONTAINED WITHIN TRUNK OF YOUR VEHICLE. A TROOPER WILL WALK OUTSIDE AND VIEW THE REFERENCED FIREARM FOR VERIFICATION.

For making the process simpler, document the following in advance:
    1) Type (Pistol, Frame, Revolver, etc)
    2.) Make
    3.) Model
    4.) Caliber
    5.) Serial Number
    6.) Finish
    7.) Barrel Length
    8.) Country of Origin

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you!

I was able to use a debit card to pay MSP their $10, right there at the barracks.
